Not exactly
the same as the famous Acropolis in Athens, but still one of the most beautiful
ancient sites in Rhodes. The stories from the Lindos Acropolis go back as far
as the ancient Trojan War. Above the village there is the citadel with the
famous temple of Athena Lindia. It is a
natural fortification that was used by the ancient Greeks and by the Romans,
Byzantines, Knights of St. John, and Ottomans later on. The temple dedicated to
the goddess Athena is estimated to have been constructed during the 9th century
BC. The Lindos Acropolis is absolutely as must see if you love Greek history.
