Mandraki Harbour


Mandraki is the main harbour of Rhodes. It used to be the location of the famous Colossus of Rhodes. The Colossus of Rhodes was a giant statute that walcomed ships that entered the harbour. It used to be one of the sever wonders of the ancient world. Today, the statues of two deers named ‘’Elefos’’ and ‘’Elafina’’ stand where once stood the feet of the colossus stood . By the city walls there is the castle of Saint Nicholaos which received its title from the patron saint of the seaman. This castle operates as a lighthouse for boats. The harbour is an ideal place to find a wonderfull excursion to one of the nearby island or to enjoy the nice harbour view for a night out.
